Holding the stick

Wilson on the Way

Holding a hockey stick is similar to the placement of hands on the golf club. Firm and relaxed is the feel. The butt end of the stick is placed in the palm with the little finger and third close together . These two fingers control the stick. Apply extra firmness. The second and index finger are wraped around to form a V on the top of the shaft along with the thumb. This is the golf V grip, like shaking hands. With your stick at your side with blade on the ice you can look down and see the V. Then place your lower hand on the stick and lower it until the lower elbow comes in contact with the upper hand.. Next move in to the hockey stance and center your upper hand in the middle of you body at your belt buckle.
